{"id":326,"date":"2013-10-30T05:45:19","date_gmt":"2013-10-30T05:45:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/facebooklet.ca\/blog2\/?p=326"},"modified":"2018-06-14T21:07:58","modified_gmt":"2018-06-14T21:07:58","slug":"the-blacklist-part-ii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/facebooklet.ca\/blog2\/the-blacklist-part-ii\/","title":{"rendered":"The Blacklist, Part II"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Does another world exist around us, inhabited by people whose most potent resource is secret knowledge?<\/h1>\n<p><em>The Blacklist, <\/em>echoing the <em>X-files <\/em>psyche, suggests that secret people are powerful players in government and big business.\u00a0 Many of them live only by crime, but hide in the impenetrable depths of the very institutions we are supposed to trust.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike ordinary criminals, the motives of the secret people are difficult to understand.\u00a0\u00a0 Rather than money or comfort, they apparently seek power and prestige.\u00a0 For people who must forever live in the shadows, such goals seem ironic.<\/p>\n<p>In <em>The Blacklist<\/em>, James Spader plays Raymond Reddington &#8211; just such a secret power player. His objectives are mysterious, but he seems occupied with using the FBI to neutralize other power players.  One wonders if he is doing so to thin out his competition.<\/p>\n<p>See my second drawing, below, of Reddington.
